Social commitment
I support the work of the Ugandan Organisation HOLI created a few years ago to help children and elders who lost family members due to AIDS. Budgetary restrictions of various type are still a major issue for HOLI.
If you wish to offer some help, take a look at www.holiuganda.org and decide if/how to commit. You may notice that the web-page has a sponsor very far from the local culture. I hope that y/our contribution will allow HOLI to expand its activities and, when possible, to finance an Internet presence matching its values.
Besides, I encourage everyone (especially young and retired people) to be proactive within his/her own community, or elsewhere, and to dedicate some free time to activities helping people in need. Do not wait that someone changes your reality. Change it yourself!
Thanks
The creation of this web-page and particularly its translation in four languages turned out to be another exciting intercultural adventure. It was important to me that the essence of my message be expressed as close as possible to the way a mother tongue would have done it.
What you see is the result of my work, improved by the help and/or the encouragement of my fellow-travellers during this “virtual trip”. For what was reached up to now, I want to express my sincere thanks to:
- for coaching: Jennifer B.*,
- for proofreading: Chantal B., Dominique d.L.R., Michele R., Patrizia d.L. und Sabine W.
- for all other support: Anna C., Catherine D., Christine S., Daisy K., Gönul O., Jana S.B., Kathy W., Marcella O., Susanne R., Uschi S., Vjollka K., Christian Q., David A., Eduard M., Frank F., Jörg B., Martin S., Nelson B., Muhammadou J., Paul W. and Prabhat P.
Special thanks go to:
- My son, for being the best “life-teacher” I know and at the same time a great translator “of the language of the planet-men”.
- To the man who silently came and silently left, leaving a nice trace of what love could be: “a bridge” and …
